Miami fans, this is the kind of recruiting win that gets people fired up in late May.

Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes just landed one of the top offensive linemen in the entire 2027 class, as four-star interior lineman Jatori Williams announced his commitment to The U over Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky. And make no mistake — this one stings for the Seminoles.

Williams is not some under-the-radar project either. The Phenix City, Alabama native is ranked as the No. 104 overall player in the country and the No. 7 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, he already looks like a future college starter with the kind of size and power offensive line coaches dream about.

This is exactly the type of recruit Cristobal has built his reputation on.

For the last several years, Miami has made it crystal clear that dominating the trenches is the priority, and Williams fits that blueprint perfectly. He’s physical, polished, and plays with the kind of aggression Hurricanes fans love seeing up front. The scary part? He’s still developing.

What makes this commitment even sweeter for Miami fans is who they beat to get him.

Florida State had been all over Williams for more than a year. The Seminoles offered him back in January of 2025 and hosted him for multiple visits to Tallahassee. By all accounts, FSU believed they were in strong position for a long time. Then Miami entered the picture, turned up the pressure, and completely changed the momentum.

Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal offered Williams in January 2026, and from there the Hurricanes surged hard. Once Miami got him on campus and started building that relationship, things shifted quickly.

That’s becoming a trend.

Cristobal’s recruiting pitch to elite offensive linemen continues to hit. Miami’s recent investment in player development, facilities, and trench talent is clearly resonating with top prospects across the country. Williams even pointed directly to Cristobal and Mirabal as major reasons behind his commitment.

“Coach Cristobal and Coach Mirabal really made me feel like I could be a cornerstone of something special,” Williams said after announcing his decision.

That’s the message Miami keeps selling — come to Coral Gables, develop in a pro-style system, get coached hard, and compete at the highest level.

Meanwhile, Florida State now finds itself in an uncomfortable spot. The Seminoles still do not have a single offensive line commit in their 2027 class, and losing a player they prioritized this heavily only adds more pressure moving forward.

For Miami fans though? This is another statement win on the recruiting trail.

Cristobal isn’t just stacking stars. He’s stacking linemen. And if Hurricanes fans know anything, it’s that championships in Miami have always started up front.
